Jessica and Greg's Black & White Philadelphia Franklin Hotel Wedding

This year I had the pleasure of working with Jessica and Greg on their wedding invitations. This couple enjoys traveling and we worked the travel theme into their wedding day. I had such fun looking through pictures and tying their theme in with the places they have been on their table numbers. I hope you enjoy their story and some great advice from the newlyweds!
How did you meet? The real answer? Or what we tell everyone? The real answer is we met on Tinder. We originally told everyone we met at a bar. Which is true because that is where we first met each other in person!
Tell me a little about the proposal… Greg proposed the day that we officially moved in together. We were doing what we do best; watching college football and enjoying a beer when he surprised me with the ring.
What surprised you most about planning your wedding? How simple it was. Once the big decisions (location and venue) were made everything else kind of just fell into place. We relied on recommendations for the different vendors, etc and it really made planning simple and worry free.
What (or who) did you find was your best resource for planning your wedding? The best resource we used was the internet. I relied heavily on searches and reviews from others when selecting vendors. I found the florist on instagram and we also relied on recommendations from other vendors. Our photographer recommended the DJ company (and our specific DJ) that we used since she has worked with them before.
What was your inspiration for your wedding day details? We knew from the beginning that Greg was going to purchase a new suit for the wedding so our inspiration came from what color suit he needed to add to his wardrobe. Since he decided on black I decided that the girls would also wear black and could choose any black dress that they would wear again. From there the color scheme fell into place. For some of the other details we wanted something personal to represent us, since we enjoy traveling and are often visiting friends and family we decided to incorporate some of our favorite destinations into the theme for our table names/numbers.
What was your favorite thing about your wedding? Having all of our friends and family together for the weekend to celebrate! Being that Greg is from Wisconsin it is not often that we get to see all of his friends and family. It was great to have everyone together in one place for the whole weekend.
Best part of the wedding planning? The food and cake tastings! I also enjoyed getting to meet and work with some awesome local vendors and seeing all the fabulous work they do!
What advice will you give your friends getting married? Don’t sweat the small stuff! The little details can stress you out and in the end no one even notices or cares about those things! If you are looking to make the wedding planning as simple as possible, finding a venue that does everything for you is the way to go. Our venue had most of the things we needed; ceremony space, reception space, the cake was included, and there were even places within walking distance for photos. We did not need to worry transportation or hiring caterers, etc. The only extra things we had to book were photographer, DJ, flowers and invitations which made the organizing and planning so much easier.
