Real Wedding - Lindsay & Ryan
Updated: 6 days ago
This was a special wedding for me to work on. Lindsay & Ryan were married at Talamore; the same beautiful location that my husband and I were married at 20 years ago. Lindsay & Ryan were a lot of fun to work with. Their wedding photos (by Adrienne Matz) captured what a fun, loving couple they are. Enjoy getting to know Lindsay & Ryan...
How did you meet?
Ryan and I first met in May, 2013 at The Cheesecake Factory. We spent a lot of time together over the next several months and we realized how much we have in common. Our mutual love for bike riding led to the best first date of all time. And the rest is history...
Tell me a little about the proposal…
January 19, 2017 Ryan’s family and I had planned an overnight stay in Philadelphia. We all did this the year before and had a blast, so we figured we would do it again! Unfortunately, I was very ill that weekend which almost kept me from going, but Ryan somehow found a way to convince me to go. When we got to our hotel, his mom recommended going to a rooftop she read about to watch the sunset. We all got ready and hopped in an Uber to the Cira Green Rooftop. We all squeezed into the elevator and as we approached the top, Ryan pulled me in close. The doors opened and my family and closest friends were all there with a banner reading, “Lindsay Dawn Blank, WILL YOU MARRY ME?” I was in absolute disbelief. Ryan then led me down a candle-lit aisle with numerous photos from throughout our relationship. When we reached the end, Ryan got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Without hesitation, I SAID YES!
What surprised you most about planning your wedding?
The amount of stress involved in planning a wedding is insane. I went into it thinking it was going to be so much fun and exciting, and of course there were many moments that it was everything I had expected going into it. However, there were many times I had to take step back and just take a breath and remind myself the true reason I am getting married. I had to reflect on the fact that I am planning what is supposed to be the best day of my life, the day I get to commit to spending the rest of my life with my best friend in front of all our family and friends. The amount of options and decisions and choices about every little thing is what was most difficult for me. Word of advice, as awesome as Pinterest is, don't allow it to take over your entire wedding planning process, because it will drive you crazy. Take the planning process one day at a time. Communicate with those close to you that have been through the process before and can offer you helpful advice. Appreciate this time with you future husband or wife. This time overall, is very special and believe it or not, does fly by.
What (or who) did you find was your best resource for planning your wedding?
I was really lucky that I had such a great group of friends and both sides of the family were completely supportive and onboard with every decision we were making. I also utilized Etsy more than I thought I would have. Etsy was extremely helpful for everything from gifts to little details for wedding décor and accessories.
What was your inspiration for your wedding day details?
My wedding took place during the Spring, and that is exactly the feel I wanted to have. I wanted an outdoor ceremony with beautiful greenery and flowers surrounding. I wanted a more neutral , "Springy" color bridesmaid dress, so I chose a lilac grey color which turned out to look AMAZING! I chose to have a rustic-elegant theme for the wedding, which fit the venue perfectly.
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
Being able to celebrate the best day of mine and my husband's lives, the love we have for each other, and vowing to commit to one another for the rest of our lives in front of our family and friends was such an incredible feeling and a memory we will cherish forever.
Best part of the wedding planning?
Working together with my then fiancé (Yes, he did have some great input!) creating the perfect day for both of us and sharing so many wonderful memories throughout the process.
What advice will you give your friends getting married?
Do NOT allow Pinterest to take over! Once you make a decision, stick with your gut. Communicate with your friends and family as they are likely to have some great advice or help to keep you sane. Make time for you and your fiancé to have some fun, go on a date night and forget about the wedding planning for a night. It helps! Never forget the reason why you are getting married.
