Real Wedding - Kelly & Elliott
Last winter I met with Kelly and her mom - both beautiful women, they could be twins! Kelly had seen a particular laser cut seashell folder that she wanted. I was able to source the exact folder that she had seen (whew!). Once we found that piece, we started creating. We discussed fonts, colors, wording and what cards were needed for Kelly & Elliott's wedding. Kelly & Elliott lived over an hour from the studio, but not too far from where my husband works so he became my very willing delivery man. I was sad that I wasn't going to see Kelly's reaction to seeing her invitations for the first time, so she sent me a video. Kelly and Elliott are such a sweet couple and so happy together. I hope you enjoy reading about their big day!
How did you meet?
We met completely unexpectedly at a mutual friends party. We ended up dancing together and the rest, history!
Tell me a little about the proposal…
I’ll try hard to not include every detail ;) Summer of 2016 both our families took a trip down to the beach. It was a pretty cloudy day and I was bugging to get to the boardwalk shops. Elliot’s niece (who was 4 at the time) was keeping his secret and kept asking me to look for sea shells to keep me busy. We were wandering around and a plane flew by overhead, I looked up, it had a banner saying “Kelly, will you marry me? <3 Elliot” and I turned myself around to see Elliot down on one knee. Other than my wedding day, in this moment I felt like I was living a fairy tale!
What surprised you most about planning your wedding?
The little details! I used the Knot checklist which covered EVERYTHING, even your day of wedding perfume/cologne. I’m glad we covered every detail because it just made it that more personable!
What (or who) did you find was your best resource for planning your wedding?
The Knot checklist and my Mom. My Mom basically was 3 months ahead of my checklist, she always helped me stay on track with planning!
What was your inspiration for your wedding day details?
Elliot and I are both beach lovers so we based our theme off that but with a very classic, elegant touch. Our wedding invitations perfectly described our theme, they were one of our absolute favorite wedding details.
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
Um, everything!! Literally everything.
I’d have to say during our vows it felt like Elliot and I were on our own cloud, there was so much love between us.
Best part of the wedding planning?
Upon beginning to plan we visited a total of almost 15 venues, it was quite a fun start!
Our centerpieces, favors, and more were all DIY and seeing how rewarding all our work was was very gratifying. We received so many compliments!
What advice will you give your friends getting married?
PLAN AHEAD and really live each moment!
