Back to School - New Year and Bullet Journaling

It's that time again; the first day of school! This always brings a mix of emotions - excitement, trepidation and a little sadness. The summer has unofficially ended, my kids (and I) have advanced another year. On the other hand, we can get back into a little bit of a routine around here and a new year holds new opportunities!

New opportunities mean more to add to a busy calendar. I love to use my bullet journal to keep up with all of the activities. If you don't know what a bullet journal is, it is like a planner, a to-do list, a diary and a sketchbook all in one. If you want to learn more, check out the original bullet journal site here and their blog. You don't need a specific type of journal for this. I use Archer and Olive journals and love them so much, I now sell them in the studio.

When the kids were younger, I used to have so much on the schedule that I would forget

My weekly bullet journal spread.

some commitments (sorry friends that I flaked out on). Now, Saturday mornings are my planning time. I like to look at the schedule for the week ahead and write down scheduled events into my weekly spread. I add our family dinner menu and my personal & business goals for the week and then schedule the things that will help me achieve those goals.

I am definitely a person that needs to write things down to remember them; that was always my best method of studying and probably a good reason why I am in this business. If you are interested in learning more about bullet journaling, I would love to talk with you! It is among my favorite things to talk about. If you are interested in starting, the most important thing to remember is that the bullet journal is yours for you. It doesn't have to be as pretty as those you will find online; it just needs to fulfill its purpose for you. Just start...
