Real Bride: Sunflowers and Lace

Galen photos for blog

I recently had the pleasure of working with Galen Sarvey.  She had a clear vision of her wedding that included sunflowers and lace.  I had such fun creating these custom invitations at Stone Hill Paperie for Galen.  I am thrilled to have Galen as Stone Hill Paperie’s first “Real Bride” blog post!  Read below about Galen & Nick’s wedding and some great advice!

How did you & Nick meet?

Nick and I met while working at a Pub in Collegeville. We were both working busing tables. I was 16 and Nick was 18. I couldn’t drive yet so Nick would give me a ride home from work from time to time.

Tell me a little about the proposal…

It was my senior year of College at Temple and I was coming home for a Valentines Day dinner with Nick. He had my coat waiting

for me and when he handed it over he pulled the ring out of his pocket and got down on one knee. We spent the whole drive to and from the restaurant letting everyone know about our engagement. The funniest part was that this fancy restaurant we went to happened to have karaoke night that night, so we spent our fancy engagement dinner sitting listening to horrible singers.

What surprised you most about planning your wedding?

The thing that surprised us the most was how involved everyone wanted to be with the wedding plans.

What (or who) did you find was your best resource for planning your wedding?

Our parents. They were there to help us with whatever we needed.

What was your inspiration for your wedding day details?

My inspiration came from a variety of placed. Pinterest helps a lot. But I had always wanted sunflowers, so I worked around that theme as well.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

Spending it with everyone we loved so much. Being on the dance floor together and looking around and realizing that everyone we ever cared about was in the same room with us.

Best part of the wedding planning?

Best part of wedding planning was the little thing, picking first dance songs, designing invitations, wedding website, taking engagement photos, bridal showers, picking flowers, testing food.

What advice will you give your friends getting married?

Take deep breaths! It will all be worth it.
