Anna + Tom's Beautiful Normandy Farm Wedding

I met with Anna and her mom, Wendy, shortly after my studio had been flooded out in the fall of 2021. Normandy Farm was gracious enough to allow us to meet on-site and it was a perfect spot to meet! We had some great discussions about the beauty of this venue and how we wanted to tie in the florals. Wendy grew up in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania and we wanted to make sure that we tied in a blue bell floral element. Anna was completely enamored with peonies and that became a major focus of the design along with an illustration of Normandy Farm.

What did you want your wedding to feel like?

We wanted our wedding to have a romantic, whimsical, and celebratory feel.

What was your inspiration for your wedding?

I liked pink peonies and my mother liked Spring wild flowers so we wanted to incorporate them on the stationary and in the wedding bouquets.

What made you choose a custom stationery designer to create your wedding invitation vision?

Stone Hill Paperie was a local custom stationer that had wonderful reviews online. Amy helped us put our ideas into her designs and we loved the results. Since invitations are the first impression of the wedding we wanted it to feel very unique and express out personalities.

How did your stationery set the tone for your reception or wedding day?

The personal watercolor designs that Amy created were used throughout the wedding on invitations, table numbers, signature drink signs, and the table seating chart. The floral design and colors were used in the bouquets and table settings which made the event cohesive.

Take us back through your wedding day; share your wedding story.

The day started out in traditional fashion. I got ready with my bridesmaids at my parents’ home. We enjoyed champagne and a light fare while we had our hair and makeup done. The photographer arrived we had photographs taken. Then, a white stretch limousine pickup us up and took us to Normandy Farm. Tom and I had our first look at Normandy Farms followed by our outdoor ceremony in the garden with 200 friends and family from around the country. We had a wonderful cocktail hour and a perfectly prepared and presented meal. Our 11-person live band, Carnivále, had promised to keep our guests dancing all night long. They did not disappoint. We all danced the night away. It was better than we could have imagined!

What was your first dance song?

At Last by Etta James was our first dance song. We had been practiced in the kitchen for months and I don’t think we did too bad.

What was your favorite moment to see or create?

Our favorite moment was seeing the invitation set in person for the first time. We loved the beautiful peony envelope liner, the water color wild flowers, and our monogram. Later came the signature drink signs with a painting of our dog Liam. We loved that he could be a part of our special day.

How did you end the night? Did you have an after-party?

We danced and partied till the bitter end. Some of us had a night cap in the bar at the Farmers Daughter.

What surprised you most about planning your wedding?

A pleasant surprise about planning the wedding was how well the professionals do their jobs. We were able to count on all our vendors to do exactly what they promised and we planned. All vendors were very helpful. Everything went off without a hitch.

What advice would you give your friends getting married?

Our advice for friends getting married is trust the professionals you hire. They really know their specialties and what needs to be done to make your wedding special to you. You don’t have to re-invent the wheel.

I know a little bit about your team of wedding professionals. Anyone else we should make note of?
