River House at Odette’s Wedding

Shannon & Aakash are an amazing couple. Two of the sweetest people you could meet. They both have very busy lives & careers and are completely devoted to their adorable pup, Oliver. They were referred to me by their wedding planner Danielle Pasternak of DPNAK Events. Once I saw that Danielle was their planner, I knew this was going to be an amazing event. No detail was overlooked!

We started with a very different design plan than we finished with and each change was so thoughtful. Initially we were going to have a green, white, black and gold palette. Eventually, we nixed the black and everything fell into place. Aakash’s family is from India and the couple wanted to have an Indian-American fusion wedding, which was infused into the design of every piece.

Their wedding weekend started with a Sangeet which served as a welcome celebration. The Sangeet was held at the Michener Art Museum in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. The evening was full of music, food, dance and toasts honoring the couple. Shannon wore an incredible green and gold velvet sari embellished with colorful, delicate embroidered flowers. Of course, Aakash was dashing too!

The wedding itself was held at River House at Odette's which has quickly become a favorite venue of mine. Shannon’s dress was incredible! White silk with sheer overlay of embroidered florals. And Aakash in a black velvet tux.

The colors and designs of the invitations and details were completely inspired by Shannon’s gorgeous dresses. The green, white and gold palette and design elments were completely taken from Shannon’s sari for the sangeet and her gorgeous wedding dress. The invitation suite presented like a gift wrapped in a gold toned design on sheer vellum wrapped in a green velvet bow. When opened the invitation lifted to reveal a hidden pocket containing the invitation to the Sangeet, wedding details, and their response set.

Much of the invitation text and guest addresses were hand lettered by the incredibly talented calligrapher, Caitlin Jane. We layered gold foil amid the design in strategic places to add a bit of shine and to highlight certain design elements. Over 6 months and many suites designed later, and I am still in love with this one!

I worked with Shannon + Aakash to create some amazing wedding weekend details as well. For the Sangeet, we created a welcome sign which included the design from their Sangeet invitation card. For hotel guests, we created itineraries and labels for their welcome bags. For the wedding, we created an unplugged ceremony sign, wedding programs, escort cards, and donation cards. Not a detail was missed. We even tied ithe same green velvet ribbon (only wider) as a wrap around the wedding cake.

To top everything off, Shannon + Aakash were working with the amazing Hoffer Photography team. Their photos look like they are straight off the cover of Vogue. This was a dream couple and wedding team to work with! Cheers to Shannon and Aakash and many, many happy years ahead!
