Bloom, Graduate, Celebrate - It Must Be May

May has arrived, and it is not wasting any time. The month opens with three days in New York and the Hamptons -- three networking events in three days with some breathing room in between, and a group of wedding industry friends I genuinely cannot wait to see. And then there are the weddings: Chad and Natalie, Emma and Alden, and Liz and Dan. I have loved working with these couples and their families, and I find myself equally excited for their weddings and a little sad that this particular chapter of working together is coming to a close. If April was about spring arriving, May is about hitting the ground running.

The personal side of the month is equally full. On the 13th, my son Ethan graduates with his master's degree in Robotics Engineering - I could not be more proud of the work he put in to get there. Mother's Day brunch. Memorial Day. And somewhere in between all of it, the garden is finally getting started. May is full of the things that fill my heart: creative work, family, friends, and dirt under my fingernails in the best possible way.

The studio is humming. May feels like a good one.

When should you actually order your wedding invitations? A realistic breakdown of save the dates, invitations, and wedding day stationery -- with actual timelines and an honest case for why earlier is almost always better.

Pro Tip…

You don't need every detail finalized before starting your custom invitations.

With custom design, we can get a strong start early and refine the wording and details as they're confirmed. Waiting until everything is locked in is one of the most common reasons couples run short on time.

    SCHEDULE

May Checklist

  • Custom Invitations: Start the process now if you are getting married in November or December.

  • Semi-Custom Invitations: Order now if you are getting married in August or September.

  • Order Day-of Stationery: For June or July weddings, it is important to order programs, menus, place cards, and any other details now.

Pro Tip…

Rush fees are real - but the bigger cost of waiting is losing options.

The earlier you start, the more flexibility you have in vendors, materials, and the time it takes to get something right without pressure.

 my current favorites

Gap: June 1990

I recently fell down a rabbit hole that I have no intention of climbing out of. Gap used to send a CD to their stores each month with a curated playlist -- and someone has been posting them on Instagram. June 1990 is my current favorite, and I have been listening to it on repeat. It is the most unexpectedly delightful thing I have found in a long time.

Listening

Philly Sports

Watching by default, and with a strategy. My husband is a devoted Philly sports addict, which means the television situation in this house is entirely out of my hands… unless I'd like to spend my evenings in a different room. The Flyers are moving on to the next round of the Stanley Cup playoffs, the Sixers are in the first round (can they do it?), and somewhere in the background there are also the Phillies and the Union. My trick: I get him to play Rummikub with me while the games are on. Everyone wins.

The Correspondent by Virginia Evans

I have heard so many people talking about this book that I finally just ordered it. It is told entirely through letters, which feels appropriate given what I do for a living. Fingers crossed it lives up to the hype - the bar has been set very high.

Mediterranean Meatball Bowls

I made this earlier this week and I am a little obsessed. Fresh, healthy, filling - and the leftovers made the best easy lunches. It is exactly the kind of meal that feels right for spring, and it is going into permanent rotation.

Here's to May - the fullness of it, the joy of it, and the particular kind of gratitude that comes when life lines up this beautifully. To Ethan, who earned every bit of this moment.
To Chad and Natalie, Emma and Alden, Liz and Dan - what a privilege it has been.
To good friends, new gardens, and the kind of month you'll want to remember.
